Access Theater has long been a theatrical home for me and I'm thrilled to officially be a resident artist there this fall.
I will be using my residency to workshop three projects in different stages of development. Cry Eden is a highly theatrical exploration of the myth of Cain and Abel with an on-stage rock band, co-created with playwright Patrick Barrett and composer Tommy Crawford. Cry Eden had a workshop production at Access Theater last November and the collaborators will work through re-writes and showcase the piece this winter. Another Jungle is a meta-theatrical adaptation of Upton Sinclair's The Jungle by playwright Kristin Idaszak. Kristin and designer Melissa Ng and I will workshop media design and the investigate the physical life of the play. Tommy Crawford and I are also in the early stages of developing an adaptation of Brecht's Galileo with new music and will experiment with the interplay between text and music in the piece.
